O Fantasma do Futuro – Ghost In The Shell

Ghost in the Shell é um mangá de influências cyberpunk, criado por Masamune Shirow. Rendeu uma continuação, intitulada Ghost in the Shell 2: Man/Machine Interface, que foi lançada em 2002. Inicialmente, o mangá foi adaptado nos filmes de animação Ghost in the Shell, em 1995, e Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, em 2004 – o primeiro, com uma versão totalmente remasterizada, em 2008, chamado de Ghost in the Shell: 2.0.

Enredo

Ghost in the Shell se passa depois de 2029, marcado pelo surgimento de uma nova tecnologia que permite a fusão do cérebro à computação, à rede mundial. O ambiente de Ghost in the Shell é cyberpunk ou pós-cyberpunk, porém o autor foca mais nas ramificações éticas, filosóficas e sociais da fusão em massa da humanidade com a tecnologia, o desenvolvimento da Inteligência Artificial e a onipresença da rede de computadores como uma oportunidade para reavaliar assuntos como a identidade pessoal, a singularidade da consciência e o aparecimento do transhumanismo. O filme, séries e mangá derivados cobrem histórias policiais nas investigações da Comissão Nacional Japonesa de Segurança Pública, Seção 9, especializada no combate a crimes perpetrados com uso da tecnologia.
